The super smart hero of John Doe knows everything but his own name. He awakens naked, with amnesia, on an island near Seattle but whilst he's forgotten his name he can remember an amazing amount of facts and skills. Eager to learn who he is, he settles in Seattle and pursues the truth about his identity whilst using his considerable skills to assist the local police with their most difficult investigations.

Having earned a great deal of money by using his savvy to work the stock exchange, his financial security allows him to spend his spare time playing piano in a local bar owned by his new friend Digger. Aside from his lack of self-knowledge, his only other flaw appears to be that he is colour blind. However, when a news report on the TV, about a child who has been kidnapped, appears to him in full colour, he asks to help the detective on the case as he believes it may be the first clue to his identity...

Who is John Doe?

D'oh! He's John Doe! Perhaps a time traveller? An alien? A secret government experiment? Or even the man from Del Monte? The only way to know for sure is to watch it from beginning to end...

What sort of stuff does he know?

John Doe is the factoid king; he knows about obscure property laws, how to break through an infrared security system, the truth about UFO sightings even the cause of an unusual heart condition. A handy man to have around in death-defying situations he can sit behind the controls of a helicopter and fly it without any previous training. Basically, he's the sort of guy you would want as your 'phone a friend' on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?!

Who's In The Cast?

Dominic Purcell - John Doe
John Doe is - hey who knows? Purcell was born in England and grew up an Australia. Lucky man that he is, he went to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts with Hugh Jackman aka Wolverine from The X-Men. You may recognise him as a baddie from Mission Impossible II.

William Forsythe - Digger
Digger owns the bar where John goes to tinkle the ivories. William Forsythe is of course the son of John Forsythe better known as Blake Carrington from Dynasty. Aside from this dubious credential, Forsythe is a prolific character actor who has popped up in Raising Arizona, Dick Tracy, Deuce Bigalow and is soon to be seen in Scary Movie 3 to name just a few of his movies.

Sprague Grayden - Karen Kawalski
Karen is John's dippy assistant. Sprague is a new actress whose acting history includes Biohazardous and er, John Doe.

John Marshall Jones - Detective Frank Hayes
Hayes employs John to help on his most difficult cases. Jones is an ex-Melrose Place star with film credits including Con Air and White Men Can't Jump.

Jayne Brook - Lieutenant Jamie Avery
Boss to Detective Hayes and supporter of John's work. Jayne Brook will be instantly recognisable as Dr Diane Grad to fans of the excellent Chicago Hope.

Behind the scenes info...

Created by Brandon Camp and Mike Thompson they claim to have sourced the majority of their factual information from the web!

Brandon Camp and Mike Thompson were also the creative team behind Kevin Costner's movie Dragonfly. Selling the script to this film transformed them from lowly assistants to Hollywood players.

In the original pilot episode the role of Digger was played by non-other than Meatloaf, musician, actor and all-round 'beefcake'. Unfortunately for him the role was recast with William Forsythe in the role of loveable bar tender, Digger.

Although the story is based in Seattle the actual filming took place in Canada.
